I heard Savannah Oaks Golf Course was sold.
Is this true?
Savannah Oaks
We
found out today that this is true. Dave Spaulding and Larry Pires of
Brookings, SD have purchased the Savannah Oaks Golf Course and are preparing
to make this golf course one to be proud to live on and play golf on.
Immediate plans call for finishing the roads and completing the remaining
lots that will be made for sale. Along with developing the course Dave and
Larry plan on adding a Pro Shop and offering lessons at the course. If
you have not visited Savannah Oaks yet, now is the time. You can find them

Is the Marshall Starbucks closing?

Yes, the Marshall
Starbucks is on the list of closures. It is not yet known when
they will close and it could be as late as June of 2009. We will
update you more on the closure when we obtain the details.

I heard that Greenwood Nursery will be moving from their location
on Baseline to a new location. Is that true?
Greenwood Nursery to Relocate
We spoke with Jeff
Farber, the owner of Greenwood Nursery, and Jeff confirmed that they have
purchased 12 acres of land on the South East corner of Hwy 59 and County
Road 6 about a mile south of Wal-Mart. They will be upgrading from their 1/3
acre facility on Baseline Road in Marshall to over 4 acres of retail space
in their new location. Groundwork is supposed to begin the week of July 7th.
Jeff hopes to be open for Christmas 2008 but Spring may be a more realistic
target date. Greenwood Nursery will continue to operate it's business in
Tracy. We are excited to see the expansion of Greenwood Nursery in Marshall!

Arby's Update
We found out today the the sale of the building
to Arby's has been completed and the demolition of the building will start
this week. The interior abatement will start first and the exterior
of the building demolition will occur later this month. We hope
to bring you some updates as this project progresses later this month.

I heard Bound To Read is moving to a
different location than previously stated on the Rumor Patrol.

We spoke with Mary from Bound to Read and she
confirmed Bound to Read will be moving to 256 W. Main St. (Currently Nature's
Backyard) in early August. An opportunity too good to pass up presented itself
to locate Bound to Read on the highly visible corner location. Nature's
Backyard will be relocating to the building on East College Drive across from
Freedom Gas

What is going on with the Arby's Rumor?
Arby's Update
It was just today that Arby's has said anything
about the purchase of the land here in Marshall. Before now the
information we were getting was from local reports. Arby's did tell us
that they are working to acquire the building at 1422 East College Drive here in
Marshall. Local officials with ties to the property have strongly
suggested that the property will be demolished if and when Arbys' finalizes the
deal. Arby's has said they will keep us posted with any changes or
progress they make during the process of the sale.

What are the plans for the old barn right near
the High School?
I heard it was going to become a Sports Bar.
This Old Barn
No, it is not true. The barn is under contract to be torn down soon. We have
heard many rumors around the barn from a Sports Bar an arts and crafts center or
a teen center. The truth is the barn is owned by The Schwan Food Company and
will be gone soon putting all the rumors surrounding it to rest.

What's up with Citi Financial next to
Coldstone Creamery?
The sign is all covered up. Are they leaving before they open?

Citi Financial in the
Coldstone Creamery building appears to have closed already but the truth is they
have not opened yet. Citi Financial is still planning on opening but are
working through some internal processes and timing around getting their staff
here. They may be open and ready for your business around September. Once we
hear we will fill you in. The sign was covered up simply because the company
knew it was going to be a while. From what we have heard they have
some amazing loan programs that may benefit many area residents.

What happened to Corner Collectibles?

The Collectors Corner on
W. Lyon and N. 3rd Street is closed. The sign on the door states
for reasons beyond their control they are closed immediately. I was not sure
when they were open as many times I went by they were always closed.

Any updates on Jimmy John's opening?
Jimmy John's Gourmet Sandwiches
We spoke with Jimmy John's Corporate Office
Thursday June 12th and according to their records they are still waiting for
permits before they can begin building. I told them they are way
beyond that as there has been construction going on there for about a month or
longer. During my call to them in April they thought a June opening
was likely. I looks like a early July date is their target after
speaking with the local contractors on site. We hope to find more about
Jimmy John's this upcoming week.

I have heard the Menards project is on hold.
Do you have any updates?

Still on....
I wish we had a dollar for every email we get
asking about Menards. We were informed today that Menards still plans on
start to prep the land sometime this spring or early summer.
I also understand that they have not bid out the dirt work yet and they itself
can take some time.
Keep the emails and rumors coming and we will do what we can to confirm or deny
then.

Is Cici's Pizza going in to the space that
Premier Video vacated?
Cici's Pizza
I have heard a lot of good things about Cici's
Pizza. They are getting to Minnesota and I believe they have a restaurant
in St. Cloud now. We did contact the Cici's corporate office and
discovered that Cici's Pizza has not had anyone interested in opening a
franchise here in Marshall.

We heard today that Pizza Ranch is opening up
a store in Marshall
on East College in the former Naomi's building.

We spoke with the company spokesperson today
for Pizza Ranch Inc in Orange City IA. They told us that at this time no
one has approached them to put a store in Marshall. All of their stores
are franchised and at this time there are no plans for a Pizza Ranch in
Marshall.

What is the scoop with Savannah Oaks?
We have heard some conflicting reports.

Savannah
Oaks Golf course will open this Spring under new management. The course
opened in July of 2007 and is developing very well. A new management team is
in place and will take the course to a new level. If you played the course
last year you know it is a "Golf Experience" and the potential this course has
for growth. Plans are underway for the 2008 golf season and the new
management team would love to see you out on the course enjoying a round of
golf. Affordable memberships are available as well as daily green fees and
cart rental. Savannah Oaks is open to the public

What is the latest on the Arby's restaurant?
Arby's Update
We found out today, Monday March 10th, that the
owner of the building was handed a contract
today and is currently reviewing it. According to the owner things
like this take longer when
dealing with a large company. We hope to be able to inform you
as soon as the deal is signed and the information becomes public.
